Symbolism has been used for hundreds of years it has been used to help writers express different elements of their work. Katherine Mansfield the author of â€Å"Miss Brill,† Eudora Welty author of the short story â€Å"A Warn Path,† and Shirley Jackson author of â€Å"The Lottery† all use symbolism wonderfully in their work. They all use symbolism in a different way but they all use this process to help describe a deeper thought or meaning behind elements of their work. Symbolism is putting a symbolic meaning behind a natural object thoughts or facts. This process is used by a lot of the most popular authors and playwrights. It helps the author to describe or to better emphasize a particular thought or object in a story. It is used to give even the most simple of objects, like the â€Å"black box† which we would think as a small unimportant object, but in the short story â€Å"The Lottery† it was used to show fear and the time of the â€Å"lottery.† Symbolism is a way for authors to use objects and thoughts to show mystical ideas, the state of mind, and also the emotion of not only the characters but also the settings and even the emotion of the work as a whole. All three of these authors were able to portray symbolism in many ways which allowed a deeper understanding to each their pieces. In Kathrine Mansfield’s, â€Å"Miss Brill† we are able to see that this story is very structured and uses a variety of symbolism within it. Today I am writing to you today to inform you that building a nuclear facility in the Canterbury Council would be nothing but harmful and damaging towards our community. In order to explain and elaborate on this topic defining what an atom means is extremely valid. Atoms are composed of three type of particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are heavier than electrons and lay in the center of the atom, which is called the nucleus. Electrons are extremely lightweight and exist in a cloud orbiting the nucleus. The electron cloud has a radius 10,000 times greater than the nucleus. This is a great example of an atom: ï ¿ ¼ A nuclear reaction is considered to be the process in which two nuclei of an atom and a subatomic particle (such as a proton or neutron) collide to produce one or more nuclides that are different from the original nucleus that began the process. Thus, a nuclear reaction must cause a transformation of at least one nuclide to another. Nuclear reaction is a term implying an induced (forced/man made) change in a nuclide. ï ¿ ¼ In this is a symbolic representation of a nuclear reaction, they react from the intermediate nucleus. Then decays immediately into two alpha particles. The protons are symbolically represented by the red spheres, and the neutrons by the blue spheres. The concept of the social group is people coming together and having a sense of identity because of a common space, action, or any other things that can bind together people. There is several identified social groups: primary groups, secondary groups, collective groups, in-groups, and out-groups. The primary group is one that shares close and lifelong personal relationships, wherein each member shares personal space and lives and has close relations and interactions. Members of the in-group shares a similar identity, like families or people of a certain ethnicity or race. Conversely, the out-group is the social group that a person is not inclined to relate, even disdains or is opposed to such group. Gettysburg Essay James MadisonJames Madison, the fourth president of the United States and the Father of the Constitution, was born on March 16, 1751 in Port Conway, Virginia. His parents were James and Nelly Conway-Madison and he was the eldest of 12 children. At the age of 18, he entered the College of New Jersey. He took an active interest in politics and was an early member of the American Whig Society. He completed the regular course at the college in two years and graduated in 1771.Madison entered politics in 1774, when he was elected to the Committee of Safety in Orange County, VA. A committee of this kind dealt with local government issues during the time. From there, he helped draft a new Virginia constitution and the Virginia Declaration of Rights. This was only the start of Madisons political involvement. He served as Secretary of State under President Thomas Jefferson, served at the Constitutional Convention, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and the Continental Congress, a nd served as President for two terms. He also took part in creating the U.S. Federal System and helped design the checks and balances that operate among Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court. This democratic man was married with no children and led a full life of accomplishments and grievances. He died in 1836 and will always be remembered as an influential member of society and as a wonderful President.
